Gamescom 2021: How to watch the opening night live stream and what to expect
Gamescom is Germany's biggest annual videogames convention, but as with last year, it has been switched to virtual-only in 2021.
That doesn't mean there won't be the traditional big gaming announcements, however. There will be a packed schedule of amazing online presentations and shows, including the now traditional Opening Night Live event, hosted by The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley.
Here's how to watch it.
When does Gamescom Opening Night Live start?
The Gamescom Opening Night Live show starts at 8pm CEST (local time for Germany) on Wednesday 25 August 2021. Here are the times for your area:
- West Coast US: 11am PDT
- East Coast US: 2pm EDT
- UK: 7pm BST
- Central Europe: 8pm CEST

What to expect
The Opening Night Live event will be a two-hours long showcase with a host of game trailer premieres and much more.
We're yet to hear which of the bigger games and companies that will feature. However, plenty of indies have signed up for Gamescom, including Dinosaur Polo Club with its Switch version of Mini Motorways, plus Little Rock Games with To The Rescue - a dog shelter management simulator. It will donate 20 per cent of profits to a pet charity.
