Xbox Game Pass for PC: Everything you need to know

When Microsoft first launched its Xbox Game Pass service for Xbox One, PC gamers could use it to access a small selection of Windows 10 titles.

They took advantage of the cross-play games hosted on the service, which work across Xbox One and PC. However, in the summer of 2019, the company introduced a version of Game Pass specifically for Windows 10 titles too.

Since then, it has grown into a superb service in its own right, with more than 200 PC games available for a low monthly fee.

What is Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass is a monthly subscription service that offers a library of full games to download and play on your machine without any further fees.

The list of games is curated and updated each month, with some added and some less popular titles being removed. You just need to download the ones on offer and play as much as you like - as if you bought the game outright yourself.

The PC version of the service is exclusive to gamers running Windows 10.

It is also available as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes over 200 Xbox One, Xbox 360 and original Xbox games (plus Xbox Series X/S games when available). You also get access to Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to play games on Android devices, EA Play (from November) and Xbox Live Gold.

How much does Xbox Game Pass for PC cost?

In the UK, Xbox Game Pass for PC costs £7.99 per month. And, it is $9.99 per month in the US.

New subscribers can get the first month for just £1 / $1.

If you also own an Xbox One, you might find that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a much better deal (as detailed above). It costs £10.99 per month in the UK, $14.99 per month in the US.
