PS Plus free PS5 and PS4 games list for January 2021: Maneater and more

Each month, PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 owners who subscribe to Sony's PlayStation Plus service get to download and play a great selection of free games.

PS Plus is PlayStation's online gaming service, which provides access to multiplayer gaming and other benefits, including money off many digital purchases. It also gives a great line-up of free titles that would usually cost a packet.

PlayStation 5 owners also get an added bonus of 20 classic PS4 games to play on their next-gen console through the PlayStation Plus Collection. And, an additional free native PS5 game for good measure.

A PS Plus subscription usually costs £6.99 per month, £19.99 for three-months or £49.99 for a whole year's worth.

On all consoles

These games are available to all PlayStation console owners, they can be downloaded and played on a PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

• Available: 5 January to 1 February 2021

The last chapter of the reboot Tomb Raider trilogy is now available for free. As well as a decent campaign, there are numerous challenge tombs to complete - even one or two that could be new for players who finished the game first time around.

Greedfall

• Available: 5 January to 1 February 2021

Focus Interative's latest RPG may be an indie game but it has plenty of triple-A thrills. You play the heir to a fictional royal family who must explore the Baroque world of Teer Fradee making allies and enemies along the way.

On PS5 only

These games are only available to PS Plus members who own a PlayStation 5 or PS5 Digital Edition.

Maneater

• Available: 5 January to 1 February 2021

Another RPG but quite unlike anything that has gone before, Maneater puts you in the leathery skin of a shark that can evolve and adapt in order to rule the seas.

PlayStation Plus Collection

The PlayStation Plus Collection is a line-up of 20 classic PS4 games available to download and play on PS5 through backward compatibility. In some cases, they will have boosts to the loading times and graphical performance on PS5 (ie. frame rates).
