LG OLED TV choices for 2021 compared: G1, C1, CX, BX, and more
LG has had a long-standing commitment to OLED TVs, regarded as being the first to release them on a wide scale.
Since then, it has refined the technology to be among the very best televisions out there. While also providing more affordable options.
That will continue into 2021, with high-end models such as the LG G1 OLED TV matched with more entry-level variants. Here are the TVs announced so far, plus some of last year's models that are still available - often with a healthy discount.
Note though, as the new TVs for the year are not yet available and only just announced during an all-digital CES, we don't yet have full details on the A1 and B1 models. We will add them when specs and information on them are more clear.
LG G1 OLED evo

Like the 2020 GX OLED TV, the G1 features LG's "gallery design" allowing it to sit flush against a wall or, as is new for 2021, on a floor stand.
It comes with the latest version of LG's picture processor - the α (Alpha) 9 Gen 4 AI - which drives the new AI Picture Pro software. It uses machine learning to recognise different elements of an image, such as faces and bodies, even distinguishing between objects in the foreground and background. This is performed in real-time to ensure a picture is as clean and sharp as can be, no matter the source.
Gamers get a big boost too, with a Game Optimizer feature that works alongside a 1ms response time and the latest HDMI 2.1 standard to provide superfast refresh rates and minimal latency. VRR is also supported.
LG's 2021 OLED TVs all come with webOS 6.0 built-in, which will also provide Google Stadia cloud gaming access without needing a Chromecast.
LG C1 OLED

The LG C1 is similar to the G1 in features and picture performance, but comes in a more standard form factor. It will also be available in a 48-inch model too.
The same α (Alpha) 9 Gen 4 AI picture processor is on board, which also uses deep learning to upscale all standard or HD images to 4K. This will ensure they look their very best.
The same suite of gaming features will be available too, including variable refresh rate (VRR) and 120Hz for those with next-gen consoles.
Nvidia G-Sync compatibility is also present, along with Freesync Premium support. As with all 2021 LG OLEDs, webOS 6.0 will be the smart platform from the box and Stadia cloud gaming will be available on the TV itself.

As with the forthcoming LG G1, the 2020 equivalent is more about the design than the featureset. The panel, processor and supported functions of the GX are essentially the same as those on the also available CX (see below). That includes Dolby Vision IQ, Filmmaker Mode, G-Sync compatibility, etc - it's just the design that is radically different.
The GX is a statement TV, designed with minimalism in mind and can be seamlessly mounted on the wall, hence the "gallery design" name.
LG CX OLED

While it will soon be superceded, the CX is still a superb TV. It was the first LG OLED to introduce a smaller size, at 48-inches. That's ideal for homes that couldn't accommodate a 55-inch previously, potentially bringing more people over to OLED TVs.
The CX models retain the 4K resolution, supporting a wide range of HDR standards, including Dolby Vision IQ, which adjusts the picture based on the TV's ambient light sensor. It also supports Filmmaker Mode, an initiative that strips away the processing to give you visuals the way the director intended. You also get Nvidia G-Sync to better support PC gamers.
LG BX OLED

There will be a B1 replacement, but the 2020 entry-level model is excellent for the money - especially if you can now get it with a discount. It sits close to the CX in terms of functionality and performance, offering the key features of 4K HDR support, including support for Dolby Vision IQ, Filmmaker Mode and Dolby Atmos. The user interface and experience is very much the same, although the design is slightly different.
The big change, however, is that the B series uses a lower power a7 processor, so potentially doesn't have the same grunt as the CX models do. For many, the BX could currently be the cheapest way to get a OLED TV, with a very decent featureset, and little real world difference to the higher spec model.
LG WX OLED

The W, or wallpaper design, is one of the most distinctive TV ranges ever. It's basically just the panel, magnetically mounted to the wall so it's incredibly thin, like a picture on the wall.
It's a high-end design piece for sure, coming with a separate Dolby Atmos soundbar to provide the sound. This soundbar also has all the connections for the TV as the panel has no connections itself. Connecting the two is via a flat cable, which is the only input for the TV that you need to consider.
The panel itself, however, is the same as LG uses in across its other OLED TVs, ensuring fantastic quality, support for a wide range of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision IQ, and all powered by webOS. There's only a 65-inch model available these days, there has been a 77-inch model in previous years.
LG Signature ZX 8K OLED TV

We've left this TV for last, not because it's the least impressive set on the list, but rather because we shouldn't gloss over an insane £40k RRP for the 88-inch version. The reality is that almost no-one is going to be looking for a TV at this price. It replaced the Z9 from 2019 (and will soon be superceded itself, with a Z1 model).
Everything around the ZX is about drama. The statement stand and design means that this Signature TV will take pride of place in any room, while delivering 8K detail on the big screen. Sure, there's no native 8K content out there, but this TV is ready for the future, with Filmmaker mode, Dolby Vision IQ and a new Alpha 9 Gen 3 AI processor.
