Cyberpunk 2077 release date, trailers, screens, next-gen details and more
CD Projekt Red will release its first major game since The Witcher 3 later this year, with Cyberpunk 2077 coming in November for numerous platforms, including the next-gen consoles and Google Stadia.
Here is what we know about it so far, thanks to gameplay trailers, the studio's own Night City Wire online event and much more.
What is Cyberpunk 2077?
First announced in 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive, open-world role-playing game based on a pen-and-paper RPG by Mike Pondsmith. The tabletop game has been known by several names through iterations - including the ironically-named Cyberpunk 2020 - and CD Projekt Red's videogame version will be based on different rules and characters from its lifespan.
Unlike The Witcher series, which was presented in third-person, Cyberpunk 2077 is presented in first-person (save from cutscenes and some elements, such as the Braindance feature - see below).
You can create your own male or female lead character, with respective full voice acting throughout.
It is also a strictly adults-only game, with swearing, extreme violence, sex scenes and other elements of a graphic nature.
Cyberpunk 2077 release date
Originally slated for April 2020, the release date subsequently slipped to 17 September. However, CD Projekt Red was to delay its general release again, to the current date of 19 November.
This was to ensure that the game shipped in the most perfect form possible, to allow for extensive bug testing.

Cyberpunk 2077 formats
Cyberpunk 2077 will be first released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will then appear on Google Stadia before the end of 2020.
If you buy the PC version, it will be available on Nvidia GeForce Now too.
The game will also be released for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 when they are available.
CD Projekt Red also announced that, should you purchase the Xbox One or PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077, you will get an upgrade to the respective next-gen console edition for free.

Cyberpunk 2077 ray tracing
If you do upgrade to a PS5 or Xbox Series X, or have an Nvidia RTX graphics card that supports ray tracing, Cyberpunk 2077 will support the advanced lighting technology.
Ambient occlusion, diffuse illumination, reflections and shadows will all be greatly improved to present an even more jaw-dropping graphical presentation.
GeForce Now gamers will also get ray tracing on their cloud streamed version - at 1080p 60fps.
Cyberpunk 2077 features
During its first two Night City Wire online presentations, CD Projekt Red demoed a stack of new features, including Braindance and Lifepaths.
Braindance is a feature whereby you can control cameras in a replay of someone else's memories. The VR-like experiences are recorded and then sold on the open market - sometimes black market - so that users can get a kick from someone else's experiences. However, in the game it seems this will be used to find clues for progression in missions.
It reminds us a bit of the photo manipulation software used in Blade Runner. But moving, in 3D and amplified to the max. It is also similar to the detective mode aspects of the Batman: Arkham games.

Another new feature, Lifepaths, effectively tunes your game experience to the specific path you chose during character creation.
There are several different Lifepaths to choose from, including the announced Nomad and Street Kid, and they will either unlock different conversation options during the game, how others might react to you, or even where you actually start from.

Also detailed during the second Night City Wire event were the multiple weapon types you will encounter in the game, including the vast amount of customisation options you get to change how guns work, for example.

Cyberpunk 2077 music: Samurai
All of the music for fictional band Samurai, as fronted by Keannu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, has been created by Swedish punk outfit Refused and tracks are being made available to download and stream on different services, including Spotify.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime
Announced during the inaugural Night City Wire was a new anime series coming to Netflix in 2022 - Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Created in partnership with anime specialist Studio Trigger it will be set in and around the world of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and trailer(s)
As well as the various trailers above, CD Projekt Red has been releasing extensive trailers and gameplay videos over the last few years.
Our favourite is of a 48-minute gameplay session, as shown to press during E3 2018. You get to see how missions can play out, plus some of the character creation tools at the start.
However, the best trailer appeared on stage during the Xbox showcase event at E3 2019. That's mainly because of the jaw-dropping moment when Keanu Reeves (John Wick, Matrix) was revealed to play one of the in-game NPCs.
Cyberpunk 2077 accessories
There are a stack of accessories for the game either available now or coming soon - including a special edition Xbox One X.
Xbox has also released a Cyberpunk 2077 controller, while Seagate has an external hard drive adorned in a glorious Cyberpunk 2077 theme and available in 2TB and 5TB options.
Meanwhile, SteelSeries has introduced themed Arctis 1 Wireless headsets, in both Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) and Netrunner editions.
Last, but by no means least, Nvidia unveiled a Cyberpunk 2077 RTX 2080i graphics card, but sadly you can't buy that one.
