Ubisoft Forward: What was launched, gameplay trailers and how to watch it again
After E3 2020 was cancelled, Ubisoft naturally had to also cancel its annual press conference - usually held the day before the show.
In its place, the French games publisher held an online-only event on Sunday 12 July, in which it showed new gameplay footage of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, announced Far Cry 6 (which had leaked a couple of days before), and gave further updates on its other forthcoming games.
You can watch the entire event above (which starts an hour into the stream), but here are some of the major announcements in our quick and easy round-up.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
While we've seen trailers before, Ubisoft showed 30 minutes of new Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay during the event, although you can also watch a cut down overview directly above,
It must be said that Valhalla promises to be the best-looking AC yet, with even more RPG-style elements than even Origins or Odyssey.
Far Cry 6
As accidentally revealed ahead of time by a listing on the PlayStation Store in Hong Kong, Far Cry 6 will star Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito as Anton Castillo, the dictator of fictional South American country Yara. While Coco star Anthony Gonzalez plays his son, Diego - groomed to eventually take his place.
The game will be released on 19 February 2021.
Watch Dogs: Legion
The delayed Watch Dogs: Legion will finally hit stores on 29 October and it looks like the extra development time has been worth it. The mockney/Guy Ritchie style of presentation might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the ambitious gameplay premise of being able to recruit anyone in game is more than enough compensation.
The rest
There were several other games shown or mentioned during the presentation, including a fair amount of updates and DLC - including stuff for Trials Rising and the AI teammate patch for Ghost Recon Breakpoint at last.
More details were given on mobile games Tom Clancy's Elite Squad and Might & Magic Era of Chaos. While the publisher's online Battle Royale shooter, Hyper Scape, got a new gameplay trailer, which you can see above.
