Samsung Galaxy S20 launch event: How to watch and what to expect from Galaxy Unpacked 2020

Samsung's Unpacked launch event is happening next week. We're expecting the Samsung Galaxy S20 series to launch and the Galaxy Z Flip foldable among other new products.

The main event takes place in San Francisco and is being simulcast online as well as to simultaneous events in other regions.

When is Samsung Galaxy Unpacked?

Samsung's Unpacked event is happening on Tuesday 11 February 2020 at the following times across the globe:

  • US PT: 11am
  • US ET: 2pm
  • London: 7pm (GMT)
  • CET: 8pm
  • Moscow: 10pm
  • Dubai: 11pm
  • Mumbai: 12.30am 12 February
  • Singapore: 3am 12 February
  • Beijing: 3am 12 February
  • Tokyo: 4am 3am 12 February
  • Sydney: 6am 12 February

How to watch the Unpacked event?

Although we're expecting the event to be live on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, the placeholder video hasn't appeared yet. We do know you will also be able to watch it on Samsung.com

What are the hashtags to follow?

Samsung tends to use both #SamsungEvent (as seen in the tweet above) and #TheNextGalaxy for these launch events so expect those to be used once more.

What are we expecting from Samsung's Unpacked event this time?

Samsung Galaxy S20

The main event - we're expecting there to be at least three incoming Galaxy S20 (no, not Galaxy S11) phones, at least some of which will be 5G-capable. These will be known as S20, S20+ and probably the S20 Ultra. You can even reserve one already - it'll be in your hands on 6 March.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

A whole new foldable to slot in underneath the Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy Z Flip is a clamshell that will lock in place at 90 and 180 degrees. Pricing is suggested to be coming in at around the $1,400 mark. That's quite a chunk of cash, but a price some will want to pay.

A new smartwatch?

Samsung is expected to follow up its Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active 2 with a new second-generation device with drastically upgraded specs including double the memory and larger batteries.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Will Samsung follow up last year's pair of wireless earphones, the Samsung Galaxy Buds, with a noise-cancelling version to compete with the Huawei FreeBuds 3 and Apple AirPods Pro? Some rumours say yes, some say no. It seems we'll get some with better battery life at the least.

Samsung Galaxy Home

We're still waiting for this to launch. It's been around 18 months since Galaxy Home was announced - we even saw it in the flesh a whole year ago while a Mini version has also appeared. Is now the time for a proper launch? Bixby appears to be the stumbling block, so perhaps Samsung will also announce a much-needed upgrade to its virtual assistant during the Unpacked event.
