Free Xbox One games list for September 2019: What's in Xbox Games with Gold this month?
Every month, Xbox One gamers can download and play a selection of free games as part of an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
Xbox Live Gold is more than just free games though. It also gives Xbox One X, Xbox One S or even original Xbox One owners the chance to play their games online and discounts on many digital games on the Xbox Store.
Membership in the UK usually costs £17.99 for three-months or £49.99 for a whole year's membership when paid up front. Alternatively, you can choose to pay monthly for £6.99 a month.
In our opinion though, the best way to subscribe is through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. For just £10.99 per month, you get Xbox Live Gold membership, Xbox Game Pass with access to over 200 games to download and play, plus Xbox Game Pass for PC with more than 100 Windows 10 titles.

Hitman: The Complete First Season
- Available 1 to 30 September 2019
The brilliant Hitman reboot is available in its entirety as part of Games with Gold this month. That means all of the episodes are yours to play for free. Check out our review here to find out why this is one of the essential games to have in any library.
We Were Here
- Available 16 September to 15 October 2019
We Were Here is a cunning puzzle/escape game that teams you with a friend or random person online in order to work together to get out of an old, trap-laden castle. Be prepared to talk your way through the adventure though, as communication is key.
Earth Defense Force 2025
- Available 1 to 15 September 2019
The EDF series has always been great for big, mad action and 2025 is no different. Ravegers are back to invade once more and it is up to you to stop them with your character chosen from four different classes.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- Available 16 to 30 September 2019
A great entry in the Tekken beat-em-up series, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 adds many features to the formula, including improved tag-in and out mechanics that keep action flowing no matter which fighters you choose.
Earth Defense Force 2025 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 are Xbox 360 games that have been resurrected through backward compatibility.
One of last month's free games, Forza Motorsport 6, will still be available for download until 15 September 2019.
The latter two games are also available for Xbox 360 owners who have Xbox Live Gold membership.
